help on getting dad to quit smoking?

make a slideshow of all the negative effects of smoking

and tell him that if he loved you, he would at least try to quit smoking so he could live a long happy life and not make you watch him suffer from cancer, etc

The first solutions are good ideas! Another that might help is to search the net or contact a doctor or hospital to get pictures of healthy lungs and throats and those that have been harmed by smoking! Great question, I have been trying to get my son to quit!

Don’t shut your dad out of your life. It is extremely hard to quit smoking, and he will not quit till he is ready and wants to quit. Talk to him rationally about it, and tell him how much you want him to live a long life.

But don’t be surprised if he doesn’t quit. My family asked me to quit many times, but it wasn’t till I nearly died from respiratory failure that I finally did quit. Now I have been smoke free for a year, and am so glad I quit. But I couldn’t do it till I really wanted to.

If your dad doesn’t quit, just love him the way he is. Please keep him in your life.
